Thank goodness I am a teacher and I have the summer off. This past week has been rough on sleep. Elsie Tate has been waking up in the middle of the night screaming and inconsolable. This is not like her. We noticed she was teething. We did the normal teething treatment: pain meds, orajel, teething tablets.... none of it helped much.
So Saturday morning Adam noticed that Elsie Tate had some drainage around her right ear.... that's right- So another weekend trip to the doctor for a Joiner. At least this time we didn't end up in the hospital.
BUT, Elsie Tate's ear drum has ruptured. This has been my biggest fear for her. I have the usual fears of her getting hurt, taken, lost.... but I had these same problems when I was little so I know how much it hurts. I really didn't want her to have to go through any of this. I had 3 surgeries to repair the same ruptured ear drum.
The bright side is the doctor said it should heal on its own within a day! He gave us ear drops and an oral antibiotic. We go back in 2 weeks and hopefully we will get a good report. If not, they said we may discuss tubes and finding an ENT. The down side- no pool time for the next 2 weeks!
I only have 3 more weeks of summer break- maybe when we go back to school, the Joiners will stop finding things to be wrong with us!

Poor baby girl! I am so sorry she is going through that. We'll just have to find other things to do rather than go to the pool. Like buy a swing set. =)
